Singer Joan Osborne was born on July 8, 1962, in the town of Anchorage, KY, but it wasn't until relocating to New York City in the early '90s (to study at N.Y.U.'s film school) that she began to take a singing career seriously after singing Billie Holiday's classic "God Bless the Child" at a local bar's "open mic night." In addition to Holiday, Osborne looked to such legendary vocalists as Etta James and Ray Charles as role models, as the up-and-coming singer decided not to cater to major record companies and formed her own label, Womanly Hips, which resulted in such releases as 1992's in-concert Soul Show, among others. Baby Love Lyrics

Joan Osborne

Written by joan osborne, jack petruzzelli, erik della penna, & rainy orteca
Tender as a peach
Someone I would love to teach
Started as a joke
Just a lazy little poke
Wake up one sweet day
And I could not run away
Ears will start to bleed
No I cannot take this speed
(chorus)
Im in baby love
Im in baby love
Im in baby love again
I was innocent
Wonder where your manners went
How was I to know
If would never let me go
Drag it through the mud
Will we ever see some blood
You would try to leave
Something I cannot conceive
(chorus)
Im in baby love
Im in baby love
Im in baby love again
Take me in your fist
Prove to me that you exist
Be as plain as day
Watch my body melt away
There in black and white
Victim of my appetite
Make me understand
Do you want to be the man
(chorus)
Im in baby love
Im in baby love
Im in baby love again
Im in love baby love again
