Singer Joan Osborne was born on July 8, 1962, in the town of Anchorage, KY, but it wasn't until relocating to New York City in the early '90s (to study at N.Y.U.'s film school) that she began to take a singing career seriously after singing Billie Holiday's classic "God Bless the Child" at a local bar's "open mic night." Grand Illusion Lyrics

Joan Osborne

Written by joan osborne, rainy orteca, erik della penna, & jack petruzzelli
The obliteration of your isolation
The complete explosion of your fondest notion
This disintegration is your elevation
Its a grand illusion, its a grand illusion
Youre crying, youre trying so hard now
Youll be laughing
A hundred thousand years
There is only one day
And tonight is the night
Its a grand illusion
The devastation of your separation
The disillusion of your constitution
Its exhilaration, its your liberation
Its a grand illusion, its a grand illusion
Youre crying, youre trying so hard now
Youll be laughing a hundred thousand years
There is only one day and tonight is the night
Its a grand illusion
